He's her Lobster! (the DL on Soulmates!)

Updated: Feb 10, 2020

My F.R.I.E.N.D.S obsession runs deep. Anytime I think "soulmate" I hear Phoebe in my head, throwing her hands up and exclaiming "He's her Lobster!". My soulmates will know the scene. ;) And yes, I said soulmates with an S, as in plural.

The word "soulmate" gets thrown around in the romance novels, rom-coms, every genre of music, every teenage girls journal... the goal is to find your soulmate, to achieve a fulfilled life, according to legend. (Ok, not really legend, but it sounded good.) Some don't believe in soulmates. Some believe we each have one. Soul connections are interesting things, and when you begin to read, learn and immerse yourself in the subject, there's many paths you can take in developing your own beliefs. So, I'm going to share mine. I believe we have many soulmates. Like kindred spirits that we talked about last week...these can be same sex or not, platonic or not, family, parents, friends, life partner, teacher, co-worker, etc. I feel like we have many people that we will connect with on our life path that are pieces of the same puzzle. The "there's only one" is a Twin Flame, and that's entirely different. It's a new age concept not as wildly heard of, and we will talk about it more later. I think many, many times the phrase soul mate gets used when "Twin Flame" is the appropriate term. But, back to soulmates.

By definition, a soulmate is someone who is aligned with your soul and is sent to challenge, awaken, & stir different parts of you in order for your soul to transcend to a higher level of consciousness & awareness. Once the lesson has been learnt, physical separation usually occurs.

Meaning, as we experience life, and our soul grows and learns, I feel certain people are placed in our path to help us learn lessons and guide us on the right path. And because these souls are placed in a path for a reason, often times it's only for a season. When you have learned the lesson, or grown past what their intention was for you, it's time for you each to continue on your separate paths. Other's are here for us for most of our life, like a parent or even life partner.

Sidebar: So is a life partner /spouse a soulmate? Most often, yes.. but sometimes we make choices for our life that take us from our path to our highest self. A life partner, typically a spouse, is a stable and secure individual who you can lean on, trust, and depend on to help you through life. There's a mutual feeling of love & respect, and you are both in sync with each others needs and wants. A life partner is a choice. A person you CHOOSE to share your life with, and they are usually from your soul group (soulmate). But unless they are your twin flame, they are a choice you make for your path.

If you are one that believes in reincarnation, it's said that your soulmates are souls from your soul group (a group of souls that guide you in the afterlife) that you have had a very intimate relationship with in a past life. This means in this life or a past life, you and someone from your soul group have incarnated together and had a very intense relationship of some kind. This relationship could have been romantic, friendly, or familial.

Spiritually, soulmates usually play a major role in your development.

There are a few different types of soulmate relationships:

Soul friends are very similar to kindred spirits. However, the essential difference between the two is that kindred spirits are more personality-based, and soul friends are more essence-based. In other words, soul friends share our deepest dreams, values, and drives (not just similar personalities and tastes). This is the most common type of soulmate.

As the name suggests, soul teachers appear in our lives to help teach us vital life lessons. Sometimes these lessons are taught deliberately, and other times these lessons are unintentional. Soul teachers often appear in the form of ex-lovers, family members, friends, and even enemies.

This type of soulmate is a combination of both friend and teacher. In fact, soul companions most closely match people’s perception of what a “soul mate” is. As confidants, soul companions deeply understand, love and cherish us. The depth and blissful harmony that you experience in this relationship will outshine any other that you’ve ever had.

Hopefully you are lucky enough in this lifetime to cross paths with many other souls from your soul group, and experience that amazing understanding of another person that could only come from the spiritual world.

Be sure and follow us on IG @riseandalign8 as we discuss soul mates further, and move into learning about twin flames, and what they are to our soul. And with the yin, comes the yang. We will also talk about soul ties, and how to release them so that you can move forward without that emotional baggage and connection to someone you've been intimate with.
